Marcellus Holmes for City Council District 9

Meet Marcellus

Marcellus cares about our community. He is a father of two who was born and raised in Jacksonville. He is committed to making difference in District 9. He graduated from Paxon School for Advanced Studies. He attended Riverside Community College where he was awarded a scholarship for the athlete with the highest GPA. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University.

After graduation, Marcellus’ career as a player in the NFL took him around the country. He built lasting partnerships that have led to professional and personal development that has allowed him to enhance his community. He successfully took his passion for teaching from the field to mentoring our youth.

For more than 15 years, Marcellus has worked in foster care case management and coached high school track and football. He was awarded Track Coach of the Year in Jacksonville 2013 – 2016. He taught for 10 years for Duval County Public Schools and was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2007.

Marcellus continues to mentor at-risk youth. For the past three years, he has been an adjunct instructor at Florida State College of Jacksonville while also helping people who need mental health support. He has received numerous awards for exemplary service and dedication to our community.
